Local Activities
The gîtes are ideally situated to visit the many
attractions. Whether you want to walk along the walls of the medieval city
(La Cité) steeped in history or to dip your toes in the sea at the sun
drenched beaches of the Mediterranean.
The region is surrounded by vineyards and stunning countryside. You would
never be short of places to visit or walk.
Carcassonne. The medieval walled city dates back to the 6th Century. It
has 52 towers and 2 miles of ramparts and is still inhabited to this day.
The setting for several films (including Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves).
The Montagne Noir in the north is surrounded by stunningly beautiful
scenery with lovely mountain villages. Beautiful walking or leisurely
drives.
Markets
Visit the local markets: Wednesday in Lezignan, Sunday in Narbonne and
Saturday in Carcassonne, Monday in Mirepoix. The Saturday market in Revel is a must to see the
authentic French way of life and buy local produce.
Boat hire on the Canal du Midi is less than 15 minutes walk away with
plenty of walks along the towpath. This is also ideal for cycling.

White Water Rafting.
Several Cathar Churches near by dating back over 800 years.
Skiing.
The Pyrenees and Andorra are only just over an
hours drive away
Wine trails
African Animal Reserve within ½ hours drive at Sigean.
Inland salt water lakes with Flamingos at Peyriac de Mer & Bages again
less than ½ hour drive away
Golf
For those Golf enthusiasts, there are many top class
golf courses in and around this area, the main one only 5 minutes away in
Carcassonne.
Carcassonne
golf club is an 18 hole, par 71 parkland course of international
standard. Broad fairways of exceptional quality, fast greens, challenging
bunkers and a stream running through it all combine to make this 5758m
course a pleasure to play.
La Barouge Golf Club in Mazamet is 1 hour away and set in a valley. This
18 hole, par 70 parkland course of 6152m is challenging and interesting
especially the last hole where you must lay-up before final approach over
a local road.
There are 3 good courses 1 hour away in Toulouse.
Vieille Toulouse is the
setting for the Toulouse Golf Club. It is a par 69, 18 hole, 6129m
parkland course, 8km south of the city.
Toulouse-Palmola Golf Club is an 18 hole, 6735m, par 73 parkland course
18km north-east of the city.
Toulouse Seilh Golf Club is the best of these comprising hotel, pool,
clubhouse, proshop, bar, restaurant and hire facilities. The course
of 6200m is an international 18 hole, par 72 parkland course, 12km
north-west of the city.
Golf de Gourjade Castres is a 9 hole par 36 parkland course. It is a
nice very affordable 2966m walk in the sun, you do twice. A small
clubhouse and an old m ill complete the picture. About 1 hour 15
minutes to reach here.
Saint Thomas golf club in Beziers is an 18 hole, par 72 course situated
7km north-east of the town. This course had bumkers and water
hazards and will take 1 hour to reach.
Saint Cyprien Golf Club is set 800m from the mediterrainian sea, 15km
south-east of Perpignan. Plenty of water hazards will challenge even
the most competant golfer. 1 hour 15 minutes will get you here to
enjoy the views of the pyrenees.
Cap d'Agde Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 72, 6286m championship links
course. Enjoy a round in the hills overlooking the mediterrainian
beaches surrounded by palm trees and scents of seaside flora, 1 hour 30
minutes to reach this course designed by Ronald Fream it has many water
hazards and is a challenge to play.
Fort Romeu is a 9 hole, par 34, 2235m course with many water hazards.
Golf de Domaine Falgos is an 18 hole
Mountains, rolling hills, vineyards, cathedrals, churches, lakes, gorges,
rivers, rafting, and sailing what ever your interests will all be catered
for close by.
Food & Drink
France is renowned for its food and drink. There are
certainly no shortages of places to eat and drink to suit all tastes and
pockets close by. More local information is available on site.
